Co-operatives WA offers the following services:

A co-operative is an autonomous association of persons who voluntarily join together to meet common business, social and cultural needs through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise.

Co-operatives play an important role in our economy and community. They are diverse organisations supporting a wide range of industries and activities including agriculture inputs, consumer food and beverage retail, fuel distribution, manufacturing, primary production and marketing, performing arts and crafts, irrigation water distribution and taxi despatch services.

In Western Australia all co-operatives must be registered with the Consumer Protection division of the Department of Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS).

Registered co-operatives are limited liability legal entities which by their very nature are best served by having a bespoke constitution - i.e. rules specifically crafted to reflect the member centric nature of the enterprise.

As the state’s Peak Industry Body for over100 years, Co-operatives WA is the go to member based organisation for assistance with the preparation of bespoke rules, the registration process and all related co-operative governance matters.

Co-operatives WA also offers the following services:

Whether an existing co-operative or wanting information on the benefits of the co-operative business model and how to set up a co-operative, Contact Co-operatives WA for assistance on all co-operative matters.
